Tablets and suspension Arbidol for children: instructions for use, opinions "for" and "against. Children's Arbidol: instructions for use Arbidol instructions for use for

Arbidol is a Russian antiviral agent with an antioxidant effect. It is taken during exacerbations of viral epidemics in order to prevent and protect the body from infection. Due to the immunostimulating effect of the drug (if you take it, noticing the very first signs of the disease), the symptoms will proceed without complications, and the period of the disease will be significantly reduced. In addition to the prevention of influenza, the drug is taken during the complex treatment of bronchitis and pneumonia, with immunodeficiency that has arisen due to unfavorable conditions. environment. According to the WHO, it is allowed to take it to children from 2 years old with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), and it also helps to restore the body's immunity in the postoperative period.

"Arbidol" is for children and adults, although the convention of division is visible to the naked eye: the dose of the active substance in both cases is the same.

Arbidol is considered children's in small tablets, it is easier for children to take them. According to the instructions, "Arbidol" in tablets is prescribed to children from two to three years. And the drug in the form of large capsules is suitable for children from twelve years old. In addition to the usual Arbidol, Pharmstandard OJSC also produces Arbidol Maximum, intended for adults: the dosage of the active substance in it is several times higher.

Note! "Arbidol Maximum" is produced in the form of capsules and is not approved for use by children.

Composition

In any "Arbidol" there is umifenovir as an active substance. In some instructions, it is called arbidol - the name of the substance given by the chemists themselves.

In children's "Arbidol", as in an adult, contains 50 and 10 mg of umifenovir. Auxiliary components in both preparations are different. Intended for children, it contains more additives, including titanium dioxide, hypromellose, Macrogol 4000, etc. Potato starch, calcium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and povidone are included in both preparations.

Therapeutic impact

"Arbidol" has three types of effects on the patient's body:

  1. Antiviral.
  2. Immunity booster.
  3. Detoxification.

The antiviral effect lies in the ability of the drug to bind to the hemagglutinin protein located on the surface of the virus envelope. Thanks to him, the virus connects with cells internal organs and, having penetrated inside, causes an inflammatory process. Because of it, rhinitis, redness, irritation and swelling of the throat usually occur. Other symptoms of intoxication are weakness, fever, migraine, etc.

The drug blocks the protein, preventing the virus from entering the cells and causing damage. That is why doctors advise taking "Arbidol" not only as a prophylactic. He is able to help even when the first symptoms of the disease appear: the virus, no longer able to contact the cells, will circulate in the blood or settle on the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx and quickly die. And the inflammatory process will not develop.

"Arbidol" does not shorten the recovery time, but facilitates the course of SARS. If you take the remedy at the very beginning of the disease, then it will be almost asymptomatic.

The drug acts on the immune system, destroying the affected cells, accelerating the production of interferon in the body. Does interferon help? immune system react faster to various viruses.

As a result of the use of Arbidol, toxins are removed from the body - the result of the vital activity of pathogens, which the medicine does not allow to penetrate into the blood.

Instructions for use

According to the instructions, the drug is indicated for children with acute respiratory infections respiratory tract caused by viruses susceptible to treatment with the drug. In addition, "Arbidol" is treated for influenza types A and B, herpes, immunodeficiency. And children older than three years old can be treated with Arbidol for intestinal viral infections.

Application

"Arbidol" for children - small tablets of fifty and one hundred milligrams of the active substance, they are prescribed for children from two to twelve years old. From the age of twelve, it is better for a child to take the drug in the form of capsules. In addition, the doses themselves and the schedule for taking the medicine change, because, in accordance with the instructions, a child over twelve years of age should be guided by the schemes of use by adults.

Children 2 to 12 years of age should take the tablets on an empty stomach, a few minutes before meals. The tablet should not be chewed, sucked, ground into powder - it is only allowed to swallow with a small amount of water.

Dosage

A child from two to six years old - a single dosage is fifty milligrams, from six to twelve years old - one hundred milligrams.

Viral disease prevention and treatment daily rate different.

Prevention

In order to prevent acute respiratory viral infections and influenza, as well as during contact with a source of infection, children aged 2-6 years are recommended to drink fifty milligrams of medication per day, and a child from six to twelve years old - one hundred milligrams. The course cannot exceed two weeks.

During the seasonal onset of an epidemic of viral diseases and in order to prevent exacerbations of a number of diseases - herpes or chronic bronchitis- children from two years old are recommended to drink fifty milligrams, and those over six years old - one hundred milligrams of medicine every two days for 20-21 days.

In case of contact with a person suffering from severe acute respiratory syndrome and in order to prevent the disease in the baby himself, children over six years of age are prescribed 1 tablet of 100 mg of the drug once a day for two weeks. In children younger than the indicated age, the prevention of the syndrome is not carried out.

In order to avoid acute infectious postoperative inflammation, Arbidol is given to babies two days before surgery, then on the second and fifth days after surgery.

Treatment

  • To treat an acute respiratory infection without complications, children are recommended to give 1 tablet 4 times a day, with an interval of six hours. The course lasts five days. In case of complications within 5 days, the child is treated according to the same scheme of the first days, and then they are given 1 tablet per day for four weeks.
  • For the treatment of SARS, babies are prescribed a tablet twice a day, the course lasts from eight to ten days.
  • The treatment of chronic bronchitis and herpes consists of two stages: at the first stage, children take a tablet of Arbidol for a week four times a day, with an interval of six hours. The second stage lasts a month, when you need to drink the medicine with an interval of 2 days.
  • In the treatment of intestinal rotavirus infections with Arbidol, children are prescribed 1 tablet 4 times a day, a course of five days.

Contraindications

The drug is contraindicated in people with allergies, as well as sensitivity to its components. In case of kidney, liver and of cardio-vascular system it is allowed to take "Arbidol" only as directed by the attending physician.

Since the drug intended for adults is categorically contraindicated in children under two years of age, doctors do not recommend that mothers take Arbidol during breastfeeding. Its components can enter the baby's body with breast milk.

Use during lactation and pregnancy

Arbidol has enough opponents and supporters, but they all consider the drug to be low-toxic, with virtually no side effects.

Then why can't Arbidol be taken during breastfeeding and pregnancy without consulting a doctor? The drug was tested only on animals, since in almost all countries pregnant and lactating women, for moral and ethical reasons, are prohibited from participating in testing medications, so that further studies of the effect of Arbidol on the body of the mother and baby have not been conducted. Therefore, young mothers and women who are preparing to become them should be aware of the risks they take when taking such a medicine on their own.

The experience of obstetricians and gynecologists inspires hope: in the entire history of long-term observations, no abnormalities in the development of the fetus were observed during the intake of Arbidol by mothers. The results of animal experiments were also positive. So the doctor who still prescribes the medication for early dates pregnancy, assessed all the risks and I am sure that the disease will bring more harm to the mother's body than Arbidol. However, as a preventive measure, it is advisable to use the drug as a last resort, when other methods have been exhausted.

Can breastfeeding mothers use it?

Analogues

A large group of Arbidol analogues is divided into two different categories: synonyms and actual analogues.

  • Synonyms are a group of drugs with the same active substance, in our case - with umifenovir. These include "Arpetolid", "Immust", etc.
  • Analogs is a group of drugs with different active substances of the same pharmacological group and similar therapeutic effects, as a result of which different antiviral drugs are considered analogs of arbidol. Including Alizarin, Viracept, Remantadin and others.

Contraindications

There are few contraindications for this drug. Arbidol is not prescribed for children under 2 years of age and people who are hypersensitive to the components that make up its composition.

Mechanism of action

Why does Arbidol help defeat viral diseases and improve immunological parameters?

The fact is that it stimulates the production of interferon in the body, increases the activity of macrophages and significantly impairs the ability of viruses to penetrate the membrane of the cells of our body.

Due to this, the negative effect of viruses is significantly weakened, and the body's defenses are strengthened.

This leads to a faster recovery, a reduction in the period of fever and a milder course of the disease. Strengthening the immune system has a prolonged effect.

Instructions for use

Arbidol is taken orally before meals. The dosage and frequency of administration depend on whether the drug is used for prevention or treatment.

During a seasonal increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections or during an influenza epidemic, Arbidol is prescribed in the same dosages as in the previous case, only the intake is carried out 2 times a week and lasts three weeks.

In the treatment of influenza, colds and rotavirus infections, the drug is taken for 5 days 4 times a day, that is, every 4 hours at a standard dosage depending on age.

If complications occur, after the end of the five-day course, you need to continue taking the drug for four weeks with a once a week dose.

After operations, Arbidol can be prescribed to prevent the development of infection. It is taken in the usual dosage once a day two days before the operation, as well as on the 2nd and 5th days after it.
