Instructions for use Candida (Method and dosage)

The main indications for the use of the Candida solution for the oral cavity are fungal infections in children and newborns. It is used for the so-called thrush or candidiasis. The drug is safe, only occasionally causes minor side effects. Therefore, it is recommended from the first days of life.

There are several release forms of Candida: solution or drops, cream, powder, vaginal tablets and gel. In dental practice, only the solution is used.

"Candide" for the oral cavity is a transparent viscous substance without color and odor. Sold in 15 ml vials. The average price is 260 - 320 rubles.

The medicine tastes bitter.

Additional Information! The medicine is bitter. Therefore, the baby can be capricious, do not allow the affected areas to be treated.

Usually, the medication is prescribed for oral thrush or candidal stomatitis, which often occur in newborns. However, it will also be effective against:

  • any form of stomatitis caused by viruses and fungi;
  • cheilitis;
  • gingivitis;
  • angulitis;
  • glossitis.

The main component of the drug is clotrimazole, an imidazole derivative. 1 ml of the drug contains 10 mg of the active substance. Additionally drops include glycerol and propylene glycol.

Clotrimazole penetrates into the cell membrane of pathogenic microorganisms, disrupts its structure and the synthesis of ergosterol. It is effective against:

  • yeast-like and mold fungi;
  • causative agent of multi-colored lichen and erythrasma;
  • gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

The main active ingredient is clotrimazole.

Important! In small doses, the drug has a fungistatic effect (slows down the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms), in large doses it has a fungicidal effect (leads to the death of microbes). However, this does not mean that you need to use the medicine without measure. The same Candida fungi are considered opportunistic pathogens. Their complete absence will lead to an imbalance of the local microflora.

The oral solution is for external use only. It almost does not absorb into the mucous membrane and does not penetrate into the bloodstream. Accidental ingestion of small doses is acceptable, but not desirable.

The instructions for use indicate that the average single dosage is 10 - 15 drops. But for babies, it must be reduced by 2 to 5 times. The first results are noticeable after 2-4 days. However, the duration of the full course of treatment is about a week. In some cases (for example, with weakened immunity), therapy is extended up to 10-14 days.

Use the medication as follows:

  • after feeding, gently clean and rinse the baby's mouth;
  • apply 2 - 4 drops of the product on a sponge, cotton swab or sterile bandage;
  • carefully, without pressing, wipe the mucous membrane;
  • frequency of applications - from 2 to 4 times a day.

Additional Information! Another way to use is to moisten a pacifier with a couple of drops and give it to your baby.

The duration of the course of treatment is about a week.

If the baby is breastfed, the mother's nipples are also treated with the drug.

Adverse reactions

The drug rarely leads to negative effects. Therefore, the Candide solution is often recommended for newborns. If the patient has hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, there is:

  • burning;
  • hyperemia of the mucous membrane;
  • tingling;
  • rash.

If swallowed, the drug may cause:

  • gastrointestinal disorder;
  • nausea;
  • vomiting;
  • disruption of the liver.

If the above symptoms appear, it is necessary to stop treatment and give the child activated charcoal for eating disorders.

Candide is effective in the treatment of thrush and candidal stomatitis in children.

Important! The solution is undesirable to combine with amphotericin B and nystatin. They reduce the effectiveness of Candida. It is also forbidden to apply it to wound or ulcerated surfaces.

"Candide" is used to treat candidal stomatitis in children. The solution is dispensed without a doctor's prescription, is safe, rarely causes negative consequences and can be used from the first days of life. However, before use, consultation with a pediatrician is necessary. He will determine whether the drug is needed, indicate the exact dosage and duration of therapy.

As an antifungal agent, Candide solution for the oral cavity is used, the instructions for which will help to explain in detail how to use this remedy correctly and in what cases it is advisable to use it. A solution of Candide for the oral cavity will help eliminate the development of various pathogenic microorganisms on the mucous membranes.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The entire line of drugs belongs to antifungal agents with a wide spectrum of action for topical use. The active substance of the composition is clotrimazole, an imidazole derivative. Its antimycotic effect is associated with a violation of the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of the fungus. The component causes a change in the structure of tissues and leads to lysis (dissolution) of the fungal cell. At low concentrations it acts as a fungistatic, at high concentrations it acts as a fungicide.

In fungicidal concentrations, the drug interacts with mitochondrial enzymes that work like peroxidase, which increases the concentration of hydrogen peroxide to a toxic level. Candida yeast-like fungi, dermatophytes, Rhodotorula, Torulopsis glabrata, mold fungi, Pityriasis versicolor (versicolor) and erythrasma are sensitive to the active substance. The drug destroys gram-positive microorganisms, staphylococci, streptococci, gram-negative Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis, Trichomonas vaginalis.

At topical application the absorption of clotrimazole is insignificant, so the systemic effect is practically not manifested. When applied externally, the concentration of the active substance in the epidermis is higher than in the subcutaneous tissue and dermis. With intravaginal administration of the gel or tablets, the absorption of clotrimazole is up to 10% of the dose, the concentration lasts up to 72 hours. In the liver, the substance is metabolized to inactive metabolites.

Intravaginal forms of drugs are contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy. According to experiments, high doses of clotrimazole cause embryotoxic effects. It is not known whether the active substance is excreted in breast milk.

Candide for children

There is no experience in the use of line drugs in children, therefore, before prescribing, it is worth considering the possible risk to the body. It is known that long-term use of clotrimazole in a child leads to an increased risk of adrenal suppression. Be sure to get your doctor's permission before using any dosage forms drug and do not try to prescribe them yourself.

drug interaction

Clotrimazole is active against different types of fungi. It inhibits the growth and reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms by blocking the production of ergosterol (a substance that enters the membrane cells of the fungus).

On the surface of the oral mucosa, the treatment solution works very effectively, penetrating into the deeper structures of the mucous membranes. Especially intensively clotrimazole suppresses fungi from the genus mold, yeast-like, dermatophytes. The antifungal effect of the drug is also noted in relation to bacteria: staphylococci, streptococci and other pathogens.

When applied topically, the components of Candida practically do not penetrate into the systemic circulation.
